The Door of Thanks……..

thanksgiving 2

As I reflect of this past week, and consider the holiday of Thanksgiving,

I am reminded that being thankful needs to be a regular part of my life.

Psalms 100:4-5Psalms 100:4-5

4 Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, Into his courts with praise. Give thanks to him, and bless his name. 5 For Yahweh is good. His loving kindness endures forever, His faithfulness to all generations.

reads…….Enter into his gates with Thanksgiving

and into His courts with praise. Give Thanks to Him and bless His name.

For the Lord is good and His unfailing love continues forever, and His faithfulness

continues to each generation.

Gates 1

The definition of gate, simply is an opening, for entrance or exit………

The Bible tells us that we can enter into where God resides by the gate of

Thanks. It is one of the first and most basic ways to come for God’s help.

When we offer Thanks to Him… we our shifting our focus,  off of our ability,

our strength, our beauty, our plan, …or….conversely, our struggles,  our problems,

our pains, our weaknesses, our complaints…..and we are using our lips

and words to say…….You are bigger than I, and you see me,

You have been good to me, and I am better for it.

Some may at first argue,……I’ve seen folks in life just miserable, wallowing

in self pity, anger or shame. (  Some even to the point of suicide )

At first they thought there was nothing to be thankful for……but then,

as I would ask them to look harder, suddenly, the scene changes.

I can see  and in color……..Thank you Lord,

I can hear music and sounds…….Thank you Lord,

I can feel the breeze caress my face,……Thank you lord,

I have a roof over my head,……….Thank you Lord,

I can breathe……………Thank you Lord,

I have food to eat……….Thank you Lord,

It doesn’t matter how low you are, or bad it seems, if we could just.. stop…

stop complaining, and look, …look (1)

we can see good and then offer thanks.

As our focus changes and our words become those of Thanks, something

happens,…… what we focus on is drawn to us.

In God’s presence is peace,

In God’s presence is Joy,

In God’s presence are answers,

In God’s presence is life,

The bible also says James 4:8James 4:8

8 Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded.

a ……Draw near to God and He will draw near to you…

When we offer thanks we do just that!

In James 4:10James 4:10

10 Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he will exalt you.

WP-Bible plugin
we are told that when we humble ourselves in the sight of

the Lord ,…HE…..will lift us up.

All too many times we approach God with whining and complaining prayers,

” Oh God,….why am I in this terrible mess”….., ” oh God why me, what did I do to

deserve this?”……”Oh God, why do you bless everyone else but skip over me”

“I’m miserable God! Don’t you see, don’t you care!!!”

Quite often, folks pray this way, and don’t realize that this is just about all they say to God.

Consequently, it seems as though the door to Heaven is closed.

A door, a barrier that swings or slides for opening or closing a passage way.

If you been feeling the door of Heaven has been closed

That God’s Presence and help, hasn’t been there for you,

I challenge you to consider what you are saying, and praying.

10 words of sincere thanksgiving to God will produce more results than 10,000

words of demand and complaint. God draws near to those who are humble and

thankful. The Bible says He resist the proud.

b-6   If we humble ourselves before Him in due time, ( at the right time)

He will exalt us.

In the Old Testament times, the blood of bulls and goats, were the sacrifices that

God required.  However, not anymore……..Jesus paid the bill!

He paid the debt mankind owed, .. once and for all.. by HIS sacrifice .

Hebrews 13:15Hebrews 13:15

15 Through him, then, let us offer up a sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of lips which make confession to his name.

WP-Bible plugin
tells us …Therefore by Him ( Jesus ) let us continually offer

the sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of our lips, giving thanks to His name.

Why is it sometimes considered a sacrifice?  Because we don’t always feel like giving

it. Somehow it’s easier to whine and complain, to wallow in our grief and sorrows.

I challenge everyone everywhere, to make this note…….Thanksgiving to God

will draw God’s attention and hasten the help you need and want.

Complaining will postpone it………:(

So often, our troubles bring us anxieties and we run from them,

because we are frustrated that we have to deal with them, feel weary of them,

and it as though we are being chased by them……….

run from trouble

There is a door of escape, a place where we can hide and find rest.

It is the door of Thanksgiving.

Next time the pressures in life put you on the run, pass through this

door of thanksgiving and see what happens….

God Bless and Shalom……..
